Nicks Restaurant
Went on Valentines night, so was expecting it to be pricey, but wasn't expecting my (and partner's) expensive steak to be cremated on 1 side to the extent that when my knife went in bits broke off (no exaggeration), and I'd asked for it to be medium! They changed it, and was then nice, but a good chef should have noticed and not sent it, and waitress initially told me it was because it was a peppered steak, they all did that!!!
La Tasca
I read some bad reviews about the service for La Tasca and was a little worried. Took friends there after a night out and the service and food were wonderful.

The staff were very helpful when picking wine and I tried several types before hitting upon what i wanted
